Week 4 - Shore Pine (Pinus Contorta) FD6





The Shore Pine is a coastal pine from the Pinaceae family that is an extremely hardy evergreen confer native to coastal Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, Northern California and Southern Alaska. The tree has 2 needles per fascicle and is often windswept from strong coastal winds. The tree is really adapted to a variety of hasrsh climates and can handle low nutrient soil, sea spray and rocky shorelines. Something else intresting about this tree is that it has a pretty short lifespan, not long over 100 years.
