Week 2 - Himalayan Cedar (Cedrus deodara) FD1

 

The Hyimalayan Cedar is a tree in the Pinaceae family. It is a tall tree with draping branches and green/blue evergreen needles. Some ecological adaptations are winged seeds, drought tolerant, soluble carbohydrates to lower freezing point of leaves and to protect against fungi and bacteria, there are oils in the wood and seeds. The native range is in the Himalayas with a habitat of dryer areas around 1800 - 3000 meters in elevation.
