Ilex crenata or Japanese Holly is a hedge like shrub from the Aquifoliaceae family. The plant has alternate simple leathery leaves and has a round drupe-like fruit. You can find Japanese Holly in China, Japan and Eastern Russia. An ecological adaptation is the shade and drought tolerance.
