Juniperus is a genus in the Cupressaceae family of tall deciduous evergreen trees. These trees have scale like needles and female trees have wax covered cones with red berries. These trees are native to United States and Canada and live in a variety of ecosystems. An adaptation of the Junipers are being fire resistant and develop a thick bark after a disturbance.
