Week 3 - Western Hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla) FD4


 

Western Hemlock or Tsuga heterophylla is large evergreen tree from the Pinaceae family. The Western Hemlock has flattened leaves and small cones that aid in seed dispersal. The Western Hemlock is native along the Western North America, from Alaska to California and into Montana. An ecological adaptation is the tree can tolerate low nutrient and oxygen soils making the tree able to grow in a variety of environments.
