Week 4 - Common Horse-Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) FD6

 


The Common Horse-chestnut or Aesculus hippocastanum is a medium sized tree in the Sapindaceae family. The tree is native to South Eastern Europe and around the Black Sea. The tree has distinct fruits that are brown and spikey with a poisonous nut-like seed on the inside which aids in seed dispersal from small mammals.
