The Katsura tree is tree native to China and Japan from the Cercidiphyllaceae family. This tree has distinct bright green opposite cordated leaves that turn yellow/red in the fall. The tree also has a slim trunk with peeling bark and shoots coming out. An ecological adaptation of the tree is having tannins in the leaves and bark to deter herbivores.
