Week 6 - Red Alder (Alnus rubra) FD9

 

The Red Alder or the Alnus rubra is a deciduous tree from the Betulaceae family. The tree is native to the North Western Coast of North America, Alaska to California in lower elevations. The tree has deeply and doubly serrated leaves and has wooden cone-like fruit and has grayish smooth bark usually with lichen patches on it. An adaptation of the tree is to be able to sexually reproduce through catkins.
