Week 5 - Saskatoon Serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia) FD8

The Pacific Serviceberry or the Amelanchier alnifolia is a small tree of shrub from the Rosaceae family. The tree has alternating rounded leaves that are red in the fall with white flowers and small red to black fruit that contain the tree’s seeds. The tree can be found from Alaska through British Columbia into California and as far west as the Dakotas. An ecological adaptation is the vegetative reproduction through a couple different ways, through the root crown, stems from roots, and through layering.
