Week 7 - Cascara Buckthorn (Frangula/Rhamnus purshiana) FD12

The Cascara Buckthorn is a small tree from the Rhamnaceae family. The tree is native to Western North America, from British Columbia down to California and as east as Idaho and Montana. The tree has shiny yellow-green leaves un an umbrella-like cluster and black drupe fruits. An ecological adaptation is the tree is pollinated by bees and seeds are dispersed from songbirds and other wildlife eating the fruit.
