Week 7 - Mountain hemlock (Tsuga mertensiana) FD 11

The mountain hemlock from the Pinaceae family is a evergreen tree native to the Pacific Northwest, Alaska to California and east into Montana. The tree has blue-green linear leaves that point out like a star at the end of the branch. An ecological adaptation of the tree is to be tolerant of strong winds and deep snow in subalpine conditions Something interesting about this tree is it can live up to 800 years old.
