Week 8 - Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) FD13

 

Liriodendron tulipifera or the Tulip Tree, from the Magnoliaceae family, is tall tree from the Eastern United States that is named after its tulip shaped leaves. The tree is fast growing and usually very vertical and prefers rich woodlands, forests and hills. Some ecological adaptations of the trees are the lenticels can absorb oxygen, and aboveground roots are able to exchange gases and gives the tree the ability to live in wetland conditions.
