Week 9 - Red Maple (Acer rubrum) FD15

The Red Maple or Acer rubrum from the Sapindaceae family is a medium sized tree that thrive in wetlands around Eastern North America from everywhere including Nova Scotia, Missouri and to South Florida. The tree has a distinct red color, hence the name and clustered drooping fruits. The tree needs sunlight to germinate so seeds find gaps in the forests.
