Week 9 - Sweet Gum (Liquidambar styraciflua) FD 15

 

 Sweet Gum or Liquidambar styraciflua is a medium sized tree from the Altingiaceae family. The tree I native to Eastern North America, from New England to Florida and into Mexico and Central America. The tree has palmately lobbed leaves and red-brown ball shaped fruit. The tree is adapted to saturated and low nutrient soils and conditions, with the help of mycorrhizae to absorb nutrients.
