Week 5 - Western Larch (Larix occidentalis) FD8

 


Western Larch or Larix occidentalis from the Pinaceae family s a large Deciduous tree native to Pacific Northwest into Montana and into Western and Central Canada. The tree during fall turns yellow/ orange and is an important timber producing source in the Pacific Northwest. Some ecological adaptations are being fire resistant and able to handle low nutrient soils.
